Welcome to the “von-Steineck” website.
My family and I are from Upper Bavaria and live in Steineck/Traunreut in the district of Traunstein.
In early 2010, my husband Taso, my two sons Konsti and Mateo, and I moved from Traunreut to the countryside in Steineck. We’ve been living there ever since in a two-family house nestled between forests and meadows. Even as a child, I always wanted a dog. Why should it be any different for my children?
We immediately agreed that it should be a long-haired German Shepherd. However, our preferences differed when it came to coat color. That changed quickly, though, when we stood at the breeder’s door and a cute little black puppy came running toward us. We knew right away that he was the one. And so the male puppy, “Blacky,” became a new member of our family. He thrived and, over time, began to show his talents, for example in agility.
I attended many shows with Blacky, and we were very successful; he was also in top physical condition, so the decision was made to have him certified as a breeding dog. New doors opened…
We set out to find the right female dog for our Blacky. It quickly became clear—Blacky’s “future mate” would be an Excalibur female.
In June 2014, the lively little Odessa moved into the Steineck household. We had nicknames like “Little Rascals” and “Flumi” ready for the feisty little Odi. Joking aside, Odi has also grown into a magnificent lady dog and impresses with her high level of obedience and attentiveness. Every time we’re at the dog park, I’m very grateful to be able to train with such a dog. She’s a great girl and learns quickly. What’s next for us? It remains to be seen…

Information on Hereditary Congenital Megaesophagus (CIM)
Since we also lost puppies in our last litter due to congenital megaesophagus, I would like to emphasize once again the importance of thoroughly researching the test results of the parents in your planned breeding. Even a CIM/N × CIM/N mating carries a high risk of producing affected puppies.
